Does anyone out there actually like Bryan's new design?

How many times have YOU pretended that your ISP connection unexpectedly cut out to avoid talking to someone you didn't like in an internet chat session?

I hide behind that one all the time.

6:17 PM

After seeing the previous site, this idea seems much more justified than it did the first time i saw it.

6:05 PM

"Today I laughed so hard that cottage cheese came out my nose. Disturbingly, I wasn't eating cottage cheese at the time."

Humour this good and much, much less at comedy's malformed twin, redmeat.com

The amount of psychological help you require is inversely proportional to the number of times you say: "Eeeww!" whilst browsing this site.

6:00 PM

A search on the phrase "It's art, dammit!" came up with Superbad.

I wonder why....

5:29 PM

Today I discovered that Zannah reads about a hundred weblogs. Every day. I can't believe it. I only visit two core weblogs, plus a few others from time to time, and my daily weblog surf takes out about an hour of my day, sometimes less, usually more. By those figures, it might take Zannah perhaps 50 hours daily to check all the weblogs. I mean, sure, not all of hers are high- traffic, and she probably doesn't follow all the links, but I can't believe she can visit hundreds of weblogs and still have time for things like work (werk?), sleep, updating her own site, eating, and so on. And somehow, she manages to squeeze in a social life that she sometimes writes about. (Perhaps this is one more peice of the puzzle for those of you who think Zannah makes it all up...)

I have to admit, though, it is easy to get hooked. I think I've just added Greasy Skillet - Simple Thoughts from a Fragile Mind to my list of must-checks. Which brings it up to three. After only perhaps half a year on-line, I'm addicted to three daily web-logs. If these figures can be taken for a steady growth, then I still won't be as bad as Zannah for fifteen years yet. But it is scary. Should I accept that my free time will inevitably dwindle as my addiction to the internet increases? Or should I break free now, while I still can?

9:49 PM

A nice rant against weblogs on this page. I like it. Yes, I realise I come under his definition of a "blogger", but at least I admit it.

9:22 PM

I fully support the scheme to reduce the number of "personal sites" on the internet. Well, apart from the slight having one myself factor.

<link src="Zannah"> .... yes, you knew I was going to steal one of her links eventually, but I've held out doing so for nine days. I think that's pretty impressive.

10:07 PM

I just deleted today's Perpetua entry. You'll have to excuse me while I write it again.

9:41 PM

People who talk to me run the risk of being quoted here. With any luck, that'll cut back on the number of times someone says something I didn't want to hear, as just occured seconds ago:

Jade: I have to pee.

9:27 PM

[In the computer centre]

Emlyn: Is it wrong to be hogging two computers like this?

Jade: No.

Emlyn: What you mean is that you yourself sometimes hog two computers. That's not what I asked.

7:21 PM

Emlyn: Just Google it!

Evan: Is that your solution to everything?

Emlyn: Why not?

Evan: There are some problems in this world that cannot be solved by google.

Emlyn: True. However, if it can't be solved by Google, then why do I want to solve it?

(Note: To those who doubt my ability to include hyperlinks in my spoken dialouge - you don't know me well enough.)

7:17 PM

It's nice to know that I'm the only who can't write.

5:52 PM

I don't want to put anything in the sidebar. Everyone does that.

4:27 PM

Today I broke my rule about never downloading MP3s from the internet. But since what I downloaded was the intro sequence to all five seasons of Babylon 5, i think I was justified. I mean, yes, they still have copyright of that sound, but I own so many Babylon 5 tapes I've surely earned the right to just listen to the intro sequence. Without having to put a tape in the VCR.

4:09 PM

I know the words to Enya's songs.

That's pretty sad. Even for me.

3:43 PM

Two Babylon Project: Crusade scripts at bookface.com. Never-before-seen, etc, etc. Not quite as good as I thought they were going to be. But pretty good.

3:39 PM

Jade came into the computer centre today, and said to me: "Are you still here?", the implication being that I'd been here since I saw her last, on friday.

I'm not sure whther she actually meant it. It was delivered jokingly, but sometimes I think that people would believe anything at all of me.

That does it. I'm going to stagger in to A Block late one night (when it's raining), dressed in shorts and shirt in the freezing cold, clutching a teddybear. I'll claim that I just popped back to my home (600 km away from the university) to get my favourite plush toy. I walked all the way, of course. I wonder whether anyone will believe that one.

3:24 PM

I can't believe I just spent two hours playing Damned if you Do, Damned if you don't.

It's hypnotic.
